The art world is a big place. We know how tricky it can be for artists to put themselves out there and for art lovers to then discover them. Which is why we were so excited to hear about Boston-based non-profit Glovebox. Dedicated to increasing public awareness of local artists, the organization hosts juried exhibitions in non-traditional spaces like bars and restaurants (thus making art accessible to a larger audience that may not ordinarily seek it out), runs an annual short-film festival, and produces a blog featuring artists, cool art gigs, their favorite art outings (and more). As if that wasn’t enough, they also plan events for fellow non-profits, including group exhibitions and fundraisers.
We were lucky enough to snag co-founders and dynamic duo Jodie Baehre and Liz Comperchio for a quick interview so they could pass along tips on how to get involved in your local art scene, discover new artists, and start your personal collection.

Lizzie reine des damnes by ~bonbon-A6dule on deviantART
Last night I dreamed I was in attendance for a sort of…coronation, I suppose, for what appeared to be a very young monarch.  Important looking people performed a complicated ritual and anointed her forehead with a mixture of mud and black oil.
She turned to face her subjects below - a more wretched slice of humanity I have never seen - and waved daintily. I found I was clutching a dagger behind my back, and inched my way closer to the child-queen.
